Homeschool Soccer

Hello Homeschooling Soccer Fans! My husband, Steve, and I are going to be doing a fun, non-competitive soccer program for homeschoolers, ages 4-18, starting Saturday, September 10th and going until Saturday, October 29th (eight Saturdays). It will take place from 2-3pm for 4-10 year olds, and 2-4pm for 11-18 year olds.

Please fill out this form if your kids plan to participate: https://goo.gl/forms/KpBocQexHfkF8LD63

I am working on making this happen at the fields in Cadyville by the former school, but this is not verified yet. I am also working on getting insurance, which we need to be able to use any field, and it is usually around $25 per child, but once I have a pretty good idea of our numbers, I'll be able to give a firm cost.

All kids must wear shin guards and bring a water bottle (labeled with their name), and cleats are optional.

The program is informal, and of course we want kids to attend as often as they can, but don't feel bad if you have to miss practice.

We will spend the first part of each practice playing games and doing drills, and the second half of practice scrimmaging. There is a chance that for the older kids only, Steve might be able to arrange a relaxed game against the North Country School in Lake Placid.

We'd love to have parent helpers, and you don't even have to know anything about soccer! You can list your ability to help on the sign-up form. Also on the sign-up form, you can list any equipment that you might be willing to share, like foldable soccer goals or soccer balls. The more equipment we have the better!

I will be leading the younger kids group, and I'm not a soccer star by any stretch of the imagination, though I do know lots of fun games, but don't feel daunted if you aren't a star either, and please help out if you are a star! Steve will lead the older group. He's really into healthy, safe fitness that can be achieved with whatever resources are on hand, and he has coached many teams from the elementary to the college and adult level. He is a very, very nice person and the whole reason I married him was because he was my nordic ski coach in college and I just loved the way he always worked to lift up the slowest members of the team (usually me) and not just the hot-shots, though he was a hot-shot himself. We have two boys, ages 7 and 11, who really like to do the PLAY part of playing soccer and really enjoy the camaraderie of teamwork.

Note:  If you’d like another adult with you for the week (Grandparent) it is an additional $120. The cost of an additional child (13 and under) it is $100 for the week. Foster children are considered family children and included in the family price.

If you can't make the week... here are some additional choices:

Day Rate: for a family is $75 dollars plus you will be asked to contribute dessert or drinks for one meal and be a helper for that meal. The $75 does include activities and food for your family for the day

Night Rate: for a family is $110 plus you will need to provide a meal for everyone (I can help you with this). Each additional night will be $99 and you will need to help with a meal. The rate includes activities and food.

  • You bring your own bedding, towels, etc (beds and bunks are provide). I’ll let you know what beds/bunks you will have in your room before you go.
  • Every family supplies a meal - so food is mostly covered. You can put the food you bring in the main kitchen where there is a walk in fridge and area to store food. (You may also want to bring extra snacks for your family in a plastic container if you store where you sleep or you can store anything you want in the kitchen)
  • Due to allergies, we have only allowed peanut butter in the kitchen and asked that an adult makes the sandwich, then they watch the child while they eat it. Afterwards, please wash everyone’s hands.
  • If you have other allergy concerns, or this policy is not acceptable, please notify me and we will work together to insure everyone is safe!

Feel free to contact me with questions. You can email me at tamneureuther @yahoo.com or call me (c) 518-569-3327. My kids are looking forward to an amazing time with their friends and I’m looking forward to the peace and friendship I enjoy each year.

Homeschool Soccer Skills

There’s quite a bit of news and changes coming on the soccer front. The format of soccer will change this year. We hope to develop a NON-competitive soccer season/ gym class where skills will be taught the first half and then a scrimmage for the second half.  This will allow kids from different ages and skill levels to attend.  There will be an older “team” (11/12 to 17 years old) and a younger “team” (7ish-10/11 years old).  It is planned that the older team will meet for two hours while the younger team my meet for only one.  More details to follow. There will still be a small fee for insurance (so we can use the town parks); but we will no longer need to pay for referees.

Sunita and her husband are excited to take over the homeschool soccer progam and have soccer coaching experience! If you'd like to touch base with Sunita, her email is sunitahalasz@gmail.com.
