UPCOMING LIVING HISTORY EVENT
UNDERGROUND RAILROAD EXPERIENCE
Saturday, November 23rd
starts promptly at 6:00 pm, ends at approximately 9:00pm
Cost: $5 per person. Ages 10+ welcome.

Share in one of our most popular living history courses! This is a hands-on activity where YOU become part of the story. Experience what it was like to be a slave on the run in New York, trying to make it to freedom in Canada before being captured by bounty hunters. A brief introduction at the Pok-O-MacCready Outdoor Education Center will present the issue of slavery and the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850. Next, you'll be shuttled to the 1812 Homestead and the adventure begins! Make your way through the Homestead from one safe-house to another as you try to escape bounty hunters and meet famous abolitionists along your way to freedom.

Afterward, a guided informal discussion and presentation on local Underground Railroad history will take place at the Pok-O-MacCready Outdoor Education Center, followed by a campfire, hot cocoa, and s'mores under the stars!

This year's Underground Railroad Experience is presented in part by the North Country Underground Railroad Historical Association and is being hosted at the 1812 Homestead in Willsboro, New York.

Please meet at 6pm for the beginning of the program at the Pok-O-MacCready Outdoor Education Center (1391 Reber Road, Willsboro, NY, 12996)(shuttles will be provided to the 1812 Homestead). RAIN OR SHINE (or snow)!
