Play at the Strand Theatre

HARRIET
TELLS IT LIKE IT IS

A Live Performance for 4th to 6th Graders—FREE for Students and Teachers
This School Program will be presented in a timely fashion on February 4 at 10:15 AM to usher in Black History month and integrate arts education with a live theatrical experience.

The North Country Cultural Center for the Arts has invited Capital Repertory from Proctors Theatre in Schenectady to The Strand to present a production of “Harriet Tells It Like It Is” by Karen Jones Meadows to elementary school children from our tri-county area.

Students will travel back in time and with Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad in this special adaptation. Harriet shares her story of bravery, struggle and triumph as she fights for her freedom and the freedom of countless other African slaves. This narrative demonstrates the power one individual has to affect and change the lives of so many.

The Capital Repertory Theatre shares the works of brilliant playwrights and some of the nation’s most acclaimed stage actors to help deepen and broaden students’ understanding of dramatic literature and theatrical tradition. Following the performance students may engage in a post-performance discussion with the actors and the creative team.

The Strand is pleased to open its doors to elementary school children to be educated and entertained in this historic and restored theatre space.

Please call the NCCCA at 518-563-1604 to reserve space for your students today.
