Park Safari Trip, Thursday 7/2/15, 10am meet-up, $13.75/child, $30/adult

I have been in contact with someone from the park regarding an organized home-school trip and I am passing on the info to all in order to see interest.

In order to get their school group rates there needs to be at least 20 people.

It wou
ld then be $13.75 per child plus taxes and for every 5 kids 1 adult can purchase a ticket for the same price.

Any additional adults would be charged $30.00 instead of the full price.

In addition if you would like to purchase a season pass the amount you pay will be a credit toward a season pass. So if you pay $13.75 you will get $13.75 off the price of a season pass and if you pay $30 you will get $30 off.

10am meet up at the Hemmingford Fire House.  Everyone attending please bring exact change for your group!

To RSVP or with questions please contact Rosannemerrill@gmail.com

Our team currently consists of six members (we lost two team member this year because they are graduating). We also compete in the annual FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) competition where we enjoy working with other area teams in a professional competition to exhibit the skills of our robot.

Interested youth must be in grades 7-12. If interested, please contact Brian Neureuther at neureubd@yahoo.com. Even if you are part of another 4H club, or not part of 4H at all, you are still welcome to participate. We usually meet around 4pm once a week, beginning in mid to late summer.

Shelburne Museum Summer Camps

Whether we’re cooking on the hearth, setting sail, or exploring the natural world, Shelburne Museum’s summer camps and workshops offer children ages 6-13 the opportunity to engage their creativity and imaginations. Each and every day, we have the time for artistic expression, gallery explorations, play and investigation of the museum’s beautiful grounds. Our phenomenally fun, hands-on days emphasize the creative process and offer new perspectives on American artistic and historical traditions.

MUSEUM YOU

What’s it like to work at a museum? This weeklong workshop allows participants the chance to go “behind the scenes” – to meet the people who design exhibits, preserve objects, manage collections and create programs – and learn about the inner workings of Shelburne Museum. Then, we’ll dive into the creation of our own temporary “exhibition” – selecting objects, designing the exhibition, writing label text and coordinating installation.

Homeschool Summer Camp, Camp Cherokee (Lake Saranac), 8/16-8/21

Homeschool Summer Camp, Camp Cherokee (Lake Saranac), 8/16-8/21
Finally, I have the details… Homeschool Camp located on beautiful Saranac Lake, (at Camp Cherokee - 433 Gilpin Bay) will be Sunday, August 16th through Friday, August 21st(morning).  This is my children’s favorite week of the year!

The cost is $463 per family (NOT person) plus you supply a meal for everyone including the staff (we also bring something to share for Sunday night which is a pot luck dinner or we order pizza – this is what we did the last couple of years).  In addition, your family will be a helper at another meal.  Depending on the number of families, I may ask everyone to contribute something towards a breakfast (box of cereal/drink) and help cleaning up for one extra meal.  In the past, people have been incredibly helpful so clean-up is pretty easy with all the hands at work.
You bring your own bedding, towels, etc (beds and bunks are provide).  I’ll let you know what size & number beds/bunks you will have in your room before you go.

Additional notes:  If you’d like another adult with you for the week (Grandparent) it is an additional $118.  The cost of an additional child (13 and under) it is $98 for the week.  Foster children are considered family children and included in the family price.

Deposit - I am collecting a $100 deposit which is non-refundable to help the camp know the number of families that will be attending so they can determine the required staff.  You may mail me your deposit:
Tammy Neureuther
11 Carriagehouse LaneWest Chazy, NY 12992
Activities (all included in the cost):

Pool with lifeguard
Horseback riding
Archery
Ping Pong
Small Sand Pit (little boys liked it there!)
Vollyball/Sand area
Motorboats with almost everything imaginable behind them (staff drives the boats)
Boat Area - includes kayaks, canoes, paddle boats (this is open all day but we need
an adult on land and everyone needs to sign the boats out)
Fishing -  From the camps canoes, no fishing from the dock.  Must have a current NYS fishing license

We also have done the following in the past - mostly led by homeschoolers (staff
has participated in Talent night, etc)

~ "classes" taught by a parent (this has not been done in the last couple of years, but it's completely up to us – ideas in the past have included photography, cake decorating, drawing)

~ Roast Marshmallow, Fire, Chat time

~ Chapel time (my children love the songs)

~ Mom's homeschool sharing time -- bring your favorite idea, game, product, etc to share (we have not done this the last couple of years… but could if anyone wanted)

~ Talent night

~ Arts and Crafts – different families bring beads, drawing supplies, rainbow loom, etc. for the children to use in the evening or when it rains

~ Lots of games semi-organized games - volley ball, kickball, soccer and capture the flag were a hit in the past.  We also played quite a few board games especially when it rains.  I suggest you bring your favorite!

~ "Spooky" stories by the campfire for the older kids

Other things you may want to know --

The kitchen is vegetarian; hence no meat – milk & dairy are fine.

Every family supplies a meal - so food is mostly covered. You can put the food you bring in the main kitchen where there is a walk in fridge and area to store food. (You may also want to bring extra snacks for your family in a plastic container if you store where you sleep or you can store anything you want in the kitchen)

Due to allergies, we have only allowed peanut butter in the kitchen and asked that an adult makes the sandwich, then they watch the child while they eat it.  Afterwards, please wash everyone’s hands.

If you have other allergy concerns, or this policy is not acceptable, please notify me and we will work together to insure everyone is safe!

Feel free to contact me with questions.  You can email me at tamneureuther @
yahoo.com or call me at (h)518-563-7036 or (c) 518-569-3327.  My kids are looking forward to an amazing time with their friends and I’m looking forward to the peace and friendship I enjoy each year.
