Learn about how the pioneers celebrated Christmas, the history of St Nicholas, and hear the Christmas story from Farmer Boy read aloud as you make a traditional popcorn & cranberry garland. Discuss ideas for simple, pioneer style, homemade presents (handouts of several ideas will be available for the student to choose from to take home). **Please note: As a nice tie-in to this class, the Almanzo Wilder Farm in Malone, NY is hosting their annual Christmas with Almanzo the Saturday following this class, 12/5/15 from 11am - 3pm. **
A two part class focusing on nutrition! Come learn about all 5 food groups, their main nutrients, and the role those nutrients play in the body. Learn the basics of reading a nutrition label. Everyone will have the option of recording their food & exercise for a few days, and will also have the option of analyzing their records in the 2nd class. See how different foods measure up when dealing with serving sizes.
***Please remember that co-op has a nut free policy! This includes not only items brought for bag lunches but also for holiday treats, snacks, etc. If you are looking for a nut butter alternative, sun butter is OK to use! ***
