Hello Parents,
As summer starts to wind down we are preparing for the upcoming fall season of the Adirondack Youth Orchestra Association. Attached please find the registration form for this year. We have kept the pricing the same as last year. The deadline for the $10 discount for early submission is September 2nd. You can either mail the forms in to the AYOA at PO Box 1590, Plattsburgh, NY 12901 or you can drop them off at my office at 61 Smithfield Blvd, Plattsburgh (an after hour drop slot is available).
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THIS YEAR:
FIRST REHEARSAL:
The first rehearsal will be on September 11th and is being held at the Plattsburgh Senior High School in the area of the Auditorium. For the first rehearsal only we ask that a parent stay for the parent meeting. Here is the schedule…
3:30-4:00 Registration (for those that haven’t taken advantage of the early registration) and Check-In: held in the lobby and auditorium.
4:00-4:30 Parent meeting for all groups: held in the auditorium.
Student meeting for all groups: held in the band room.
4:30-5:00 Audition warm-up area will be in the band room.
Optional light snack for the students (water and cookies) will be in the auditorium.
Chorus auditions* will be held in the orchestra room (all students, even those that have submitted NYSSMA forms are asked to audition)
Instrument auditions* will be held in the conference room (optional but recommended for those that have submitted NYSSMA forms)
*The conductors use the auditions to assist them with group/seat placement. Your child should have a short selection ready for the audition.
5:00 Rehearsals start
AYO will be in the band room with a 7:00 dismissal
AYM will be on the stage in the auditorium with a 6:00 dismissal
AYS will be in a room to be determined with a 6:00 dismissal
AYC will be in a room to be determined with a 6:00 dismissal
AYV will be in the orchestra room with a 6:00 dismissal
REGULAR REHEARSAL SCHEDULE:
The current scheduled rehearsal dates for this session are-9/18, 9/25, 10/2, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23, 10/30, 11/6 and an 11/12 dress rehearsal. The schedule may be adjusted by the conductor of each group. If any changes are necessary the conductor will communicate them. This information should also be available on our web-site, www.ayoa.org. The rehearsals are all being held at the Plattsburgh Senior High School.

AYC & AYM 3:30-4:30
AYV 4:30-5:30
AYS 5:00-6:00
AYO 5:00-7:00
CONCERT:
The concert is being held at the Plattsburgh High School Auditorium at 2pm on Sunday, November 13th.
OTHER INFORMATION
We are pleased to welcome a number of new conductors to the AYOA this year. Our AYO conductor and music director, Todd Pray, has requested a one year leave of absence and will be replaced by Patrick Towey. Our AYM conductor, Kate Bulluck, has moved back to her home area in the capital district to teach and will be replaced by Joel Perkins. Emily Allen is returning as the AYS conductor. David and Megan Yonteff, our AYW and AYV conductors have stepped down. The AYW is being merged into the AYM and our AYC conductor, Cherie LaDuke, will be moving from the AYC to the the AYV. Jennifer Moore will be joining us to conduct the AYC.
I still have photos orders for a dozen folks. If you ordered pictures at the spring concert and haven’t picked them up yet they are available at my office (State Farm Insurance, 61 Smithfield Blvd) Monday – Friday from 9am to 5pm.
Also, we are very interested in having more parents join us on the board. It is always best to have the parents perspective represented. If you are interested in joining the board and/or if you are able to assist us at the opening rehearsal please let us know.
