Happy Summer Everyone!
Here's the Wild Child Program dates for 2016. Thanks for your patience in waiting for them. There was a chance of construction happening on the property but that has been postponed, and Wild Child will be happening. Matt and Sara Cook, the property owners, are expecting their first child in July and are thrilled to welcome your children to explore their magical property. They love having the kids there making memories, forts, and trails!
There are 3 sessions available this year in August. The first session is reserved for some of my family members and close friends, many of whom are traveling distances to participate. It is full right now, but if it is the only week your child could come to Wild Child let me know and I'll see what I can do.

SUMMER PROGRAMS for AGES 3-11**
Explore the Magic of the Adirondack Forest!
Located on 20+ private acres in Saranac Lake bordering Forever Wild State Forest Land, Baker Mountain, and the Saranac River, Wild Child Summer Programs provide the dual opportunities for children to immerse themselves in nature and experience a stimulating, hands-on approach to environmental education.
Kids will learn the names of native plants and animals, and how Adirondack plants can be used for food and healing. The atmosphere is non-competitive, allowing group bonding and individual empowerment. All activities are interest-led and 'go with the flow' of nature's emergent curriculum.

SESSIONS:
Mondays-Thursdays, 10AM-3PM Daily, With Optional Overnight Campout as Noted
Session 1: August 1-4, Family and Friends Week (THIS WEEK IS FULL)
Session 2: August 8-11, ages 7-11 (Optional overnight campout Wed to Thurs)
Session 3: August 15-18, ages 3-6
**Older or younger children considered for each session on a case-by-case basis.
* Enrollment is Limited to 9 Children per Session
DAILY TIMES AND SCHEDULES:
Wild Child Summer Programs run for four consecutive days, Monday through Thursday.
Session 3, for the youngest children, ages 3-6, runs from Monday through Thursday from 10AM - 3PM daily.
Session 2, for older children, has an optional overnight campout.
On Monday and Tuesday children are dropped off at 10AM and picked up at 3PM.
On Wednesday, children can decide to stay for the campout.
If your child opts to campout with us, you will drop your child off at 10AM Wednesday and pick them up at 2:30 on Thursday, so you can have time to explore the trails and secret hideouts with your child before leaving at 3. Children who stay overnight will eat a campfire dinner of pie iron pizzas and s’mores, take a night hike to look for owls and bats with glow sticks, sleep in a group tent or their hideout, and be served pancake breakfast in the morning. If your child does not want to camp overnight, they are welcome to stay for the campfire cook-out until 8PM on Wednesdaynight. You can then drop them back off at 10AM Thursday morning.
All cook-out food and breakfast on Thursday morning are provided, but kids can bring their own food to warm over the fire too.
There is an additional fee of $75 if your child joins the campout.
COST:
In an effort to make the programs accessible to all children, cost will be considered on a sliding scale/pay-what-you-can basis. The suggested cost is $175/child. The overnight campout is an additional $75. Discounts are available for siblings.

Wild Child Nature Immersion programs are designed and led by Christina Grant. Christina has Level 3 Nature Immersion Educator Certification from internationally recognized Nature Educator Erin Kenny. Erin is the founder of Cedarsong Nature School on Vashon Island in Washington state. Christina has a master's degree and NYS certification in elementary and secondary education with 15 years of experience teaching children of all ages indoors and out. In addition, she has a degree in Wilderness Recreation Leadership from North Country Community College, where Zoe Smith was her outdoor education mentor. (Thanks Zoe!)
