Jim Millard is a Senior Instructional Designer/Technologist at Saint Michaels College. Jim Millard has been publishing America's Historic Lakes since early 1997. The site is a direct result of his love for the region's remarkable history and natural beauty. America's Historic Lakes is one small way to give something back to the area.

Jim lives with his wife, Lynn, on Vermont's western shore of Lake Champlain, directly opposite Plattsburgh Bay and Valcour Island. They have six grown children and several grandchildren. Jim is employed by Saint Michael's College, as a Senior Instructional Designer/Technologist.

In addition to the America's Historic Lakes project, Jim is the author of four books-"The Secrets of Crab Island""Fort Montgomery: Through the years... A Pictorial History of the Great Stone Fort on Lake Champlain", "Lake Passages: A Journey Through the Centuries," and "Bastions on the Border: The Great Stone Forts at Rouses Point on Lake Champlain." Lake Passages, volume 1 of 2 volumes, is a compilation of primary source documents and comprehensive timeline of historical events in the region. Jim finished his second, comprehensive volume detailing the history of all of the fortifications in the Rouses Point, New York area — Fort "Blunder", Fort Montgomery, and the never constructed fortifications planned for Stony and Windmill Points in 2009. This title- "Bastions on the Border: The Great Stone Forts at Rouses Point on Lake Champlain," is available in select bookstores
