After last year’s successful Underground Railroad Experience, PMOEC is happy to announce two more historical adventures! Both of these community events will give participants a chance to experience hands-on history guided by Pok-O-MacCready’s instructors and local historians.
On Friday October 17th, we will once again be partnering with The North Country Underground Railroad Museum and the 1812 Homestead to immerse families in the life and times of freedom seekers, abolitionists and bounty hunters in the Champlain Valley. The Museum’s Linda Richardson will also go in depth on some of the more famous North Country abolitionists.
And on Saturday November 1st, for the first time as a community event, we will be presenting our Revolutionary War Simulation. Participants will be transported to 1777, where they will be asked to support either the British or the Patriots. Along the way, they will meet five different historical characters, with five very different views on the war. Our guest presenter, Craig Russell, will also show us how the Champlain Valley influenced the tides of war.
Each event will cost $5 and includes hot beverages and refreshments.
Please RSVP for these events, and if you have any questions, contact me!
