Set-up for those teaching will begin at 10:30am. Classes start at 11:00am, and conclude around 3:30p when French classes finish. Feel free to come for the whole time or just for the portion your family wants to participate in. Bring a lunch or participate in the community potluck! If the weather is fair please bring winter clothing for your kids so they can play outside at the playground next door too!
Community Service Activity for January: St Jude’s Ranch Recycled Card Program: The Zurlo family will be collecting used greeting cards that would otherwise be destined for the recycle bin or trash.
We will have a collection box available at co-op and all you need to do is drop your cards into the box on the sign-in table. No need to separate your cards. The Zurlos will do it for you if you want!
You can also give your cards to the Zurlo's anytime in January (it doesnt have to be co-op).
Cards don't have to be Christmas cards!

Olivia Gillette will be reading “Go Away Big Green Monster”. Children will make pine needle paint brushes. Free play with scent sachets, separate ones containing, coffee beans, cedar, cinnamon sticks, garlic cloves, apple mint, sage leaves.

“The Art & Science of Snowflakes”
We will be exploring snow through a variety of hands on activities. Making snowflake sun catchers, learn how to cut paper snowflakes, marbelized snowmen, try out “shivery snow paint” (it’s actually cold to the touch!), snowglobe fingerprint craft. Learn how fat insulates animals for the long, cold winter in a fun hands on science experiment, and if the weather cooperates head outdoors to examine & sketch snowflakes with hand lenses.

Older Kid Board Games
Because the older students (and the younger ones who want to join in!) will be having local young adult author Joy Demarse speak about her book “Nine Days A Soldier” in the afternoon session the 11-12 slot for this one class period will be board games.
12:00p - 1:00pPotluck or bag lunch period. If your family has special dietary needs (vegan, gluten free, etc), please consider bringing a dish to share that you family can also eat! 12:45p - 1:00pChildren’s Chorus --
This class is open to all the children. The only requirements are they must be able to participate without distracting the other kids! We will continue practicing a number of songs to be sung at Meadowbrook, and possibly another local nursing home (suggestions, anyone?), sometime in April or May. This class will meet downstairs in the main room for this class period because speaker Joy Demarse will be setting-up in the sanctuary for her 1pm presentation.
Fee: $2.00. This is a one time fee to cover folders & print music for the children to use at practice, home & when we sing in public.
1:00p - 3:00pLocal history writer, Joy Demarse will be speaking about her new book young adult book "Nine Days a Soldier: The Story of Aiken's Volunteers in the War of 1812".
Her presentation will be directed primarily at students in upper elementary grades and up, but anyone is welcome to come and participate!
Her talk will start around 1pm and conclude sometime between 2-3pm.
You can purchase her book prior to the day, check it out from the Plattsburgh Public library (they have 1 copy currently available), or she will also have her books available for purchase (and to be signed) on the day of the event.
You do NOT have to have pre-read the book to participate in this event, although having a basic idea about the War of 1812 and Plattsburgh's role in it would probably be helpful to understanding the talk.

1:00p - 3:30pBoard Games --
Board games for the preschool & elementary age children will be set up in the preschool room downstairs. There will also be building blocks, basic art supplies, and other items to help keep our youngest co-op members entertained while the older kids enjoy Joy Demarse’s presentation up in the sanctuary & French classes
Art Tables --
Tables with art projects will be set up downstairs for students to work on as they wish throughout the afternoon. Projects available will be:
~ Simple Popsicle Stick Fairy Dolls
~ DIY Washer Necklaces painted with nail polish. These necklaces can make a nice looking gift for someone!
~ Simple Popsicle Stick & Clothes Pin Biplane Airplanes
Fee: $1 per child
RSVP: No RSVP necessary. There will be plenty of supplies on hand. Please just drop in & help yourself. Directions for all projects will be provided. Please make sure to pay on the sign-in table upstairs.
2:00 - 3:30
French classes will continue for the winter/spring semester, taught by Carole Dubois. It is not to late to sign-up, so please email Carole or come to co-op this week if you are interested. There will be two 45 min classes offered classes offered. One from 2:00 - 2:45 for younger kids (ages 5-8), and one from 2:45-3:30 for older kids (ages 9+). All classes will be offered at the beginner level, but as each class has about 10 students currently enrolled, two classes will allow Carole to offer more advanced projects for the older kids and keep a good student/teacher ratio.
The rate is $10 per lessons. She is willing to do a multiple child rate of 50% for second child. (If there's more in your family you can discuss with her.)
